CFP: Metrolina Library Association - Online Conf (June 10, 2021) - The Next Chapter: Libraries Post-Pandemic @MLA_Library

Metrolina Library Association is now accepting presentation proposals for our free online conference on Thursday, June 10th.

This year's theme is "The Next Chapter: Libraries Post-Pandemic.” 2020 and 2021 have been landmark years. We want to know: What lessons learned from the experiences of libraries during the pandemic will impact our post-pandemic future? The pandemic has forced libraries to confront and address very important questions - some new, and others that have long been awaiting a response. Libraries have been challenged by forces larger than themselves with regard to decision-making about library operations, services, and staff. How have libraries navigated through these challenges? How have libraries advocated on behalf of their missions, values, and staff? What changes to services or policies implemented during the pandemic have positively impacted libraries? What challenges, questions, and priorities set during the pandemic must we carry forward into the future?

We encourage students in MLIS programs to submit proposals about their experiences with working in libraries and/or learning about libraries through their coursework and class discussions. As future librarians, archivists, and informational professionals, what do you hope for our profession? Consider organizing a panel discussion featuring students.

Some potential areas to address in your proposals with regard to these questions:

  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

  • Agency of Library Leadership

  • Advocacy

  • Staff Development and Support Services

  • Human Relations

  • Public Services

  • Collections

  • Special Collections and Archives

  • Instruction

  • Library Spaces

  • Library Policies

  • Communications

Proposals will be accepted until 5 p.m. EST, Friday, April 9, 2021. This is a blind review process.
