CFP: Charleston Conference Preconference (Hybrid - November 1-5, 2021) @chsconf

The Charleston Conference is excited to open the Call for Preconference proposals today. Our submission deadline is Friday, May 14.

The 2021 conference will be a hybrid event, with the opportunity for both virtual and in-person attendance. See the guidelines below for more details on preconference options.

Our 2021 conference dates are November 1 - 5, and our theme this year is "On the Road Again!" We very much look forward to receiving your proposal!

The Call for Papers for all other conference sessions will open on April 26 and more information will be sent at that time. Conference registration will open in mid-June. Feel free to contact Leah Hinds with any questions in the meantime at leah@charlestonlibraryconference.com. Thank you!
Preconference Guidelines:

1) The main focus of the Charleston Conference is the acquisition and leasing of library materials of all types, budget issues, licensing, personnel, marketing, publicity, providing access. As well, we encourage sessions on digital scholarship, end users, entrepreneurship, innovation and professional development. We like new ideas or approaches and especially those that accentuate the practical. However, sessions that are product-oriented or that are presented by a single company/publisher/vendor will not be accepted.

2) There are two options for preconferences this year: virtual or hybrid. Virtual sessions will be scheduled online using Zoom during the month of October. Hybrid meetings will be held on the Monday or Tuesday (November 1 or 2) prior to the conference in Charleston and will offer both an in-person and online option for attendance. Full day sessions run from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. Morning sessions are 9:00 am - 12:00 pm, and afternoon sessions are 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm. For hybrid sessions, we will provide a refreshment break at 10:30 am, lunch at the Vendor Showcase from 12:00 - 1:00 pm, and another break at 2:30 pm. Please schedule your agendas accordingly.

3) The Charleston Conference covers the cost of the meeting room rental, A/V equipment, and refreshments for attendees for hybrid sessions, and all A/V and tech support staff for virtual meetings. To cover those costs, full day hybrid preconference registration fees will be $200, and half day preconference fees are $125. Virtual preconferences will be priced at $95 for full day sessions and $50 for half day sessions. If you would like to make arrangements for a different registration amount due to sponsorships or other alternatives, please contact Leah Hinds at leah@charlestonlibraryconference.com.
