The 4th International Conference for Internet Technology and Secured Transactions (ICITST-2009) is co-sponsored by IEEE UK/RI Section. The ICITST-2009 encourages you to submit special track proposals. All the accepted papers will be included in the conference proceedings. You can consider organising a special track that is related to ICITST-2009 topics (Please see topics coverage at http://www.icitst.org/SpecialTracks.html)

The special track of ICITST-2009 will be the forum for high-quality presentations on innovative applications and engineering solutions. You are welcome to send email with any questions you
might have to info@icitst.org. Authors should submit papers (8 pages MAXIMUM) with the same formatting rules as research papers. The reviews of submissions will be provided to authors during notification.

Your special track proposals will be reviewed by the Steering Committees and all the accepted special tracks will appear in the proceedings published by IEEE and fully indexed by IEEE Xplore and DBLP.

This two-day conference offers an opportunity for practitioners from libraries, information services and education, researchers from a range of disciples, publishers, authors and policymakers from all sectors interested in to meet, network and share experiences. Forbidden Fruit will focus on the censorship of print, electronic and other literary and information resources for young people - 19-20 June 2008 - Southport, UK


You are invited to present an abstract for a presentation in either of the following formats:
-Reflective paper (approx 30 minutes plus discussion)
-A case study (approximately 20 minutes plus discussion): a short report of an research of an activity or project
-A poster (a visual presentation of a case study or issue, with opportunities for informal discussion)

Suggested themes include:
-Young people, the Internet and censorship
-Access to citizenship, health and other information for young people
-Pressure groups and censorship
-The role of information literacy

This international interdisciplinary conference will provide a much-needed environment that allows recipe book scholars to meet and discuss important issues such as comparative methodologies and periodization, thereby offering a key opportuninity to shape the course of future research on this genre.

CALL FOR PAPERS:
Proposals for 20 minute papers on any aspect of recipe book studies are welcome, though we particularly encourage papers on the following topics:
Methodological essays from the disciplines of history of medicine, literature, material culture, culinary history, etc. Periodization of generic conventions Possibilities of new scholarly directions (e.g. recipe books as life-writing sources)

Editing recipe books for modern audiences
Evidence of larger cultural influences, such as gender, social status, and geography
How manuscript and printed recipe collections relate to one another

Repositories are being deployed in a variety of settings (research, scholarship, learning, science, cultural heritage) and across a range of scales (subject, national, regional, institutional, project, lab, personal). The aim of this conference is to address the technical, managerial, practical and
theoretical issues that arise from diverse applications of repositories in the increasingly pervasive information environment.

A programme of papers, panel discussions, poster presentations, workshops, tutorials and developer coding sessions will bring together all the key stakeholders in the field. Open source
software community meetings for the major platforms (EPrints, DSpace and Fedora) will also provide opportunities to advance and co-ordinate the development of repository installations across the world.

We invite developers, researchers and practitioners to submit papers describing novel experiences or developments in the construction and use of repositories. Submissions of up to 4
pages in length are requested in PDF or HTML format. Detailed submission instructions will be made available from this page.

Submissions for panel discussions are also requested.

Call for Papers
This inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary conference seeks to examine and explore issues surrounding visual literacy in regard to theory and praxis. Perspectives are sought from those engaged in the fields of education, visual arts, fine arts, literature, philosophy, psychology, critical theory and theology. These disciplines are indicative only as papers are welcomed from any area, profession and vocation in which visual literacy plays a part.

Papers, reports, work-in-progress and workshops are invited on issues related to any of the following themes;

* the concept and tools of visual literacy
* pre-school children and visual literacy
* visual literacy and cultural identity
* interpreting elements and examples of visual literacy
* visual literacy as therapy
* the liminal elements and facets of visual literacy
* social and cultural reactions to visual literacy
* visual literacy in literature
* visual literacy in television and film
* visual literacy and the media
* visual literacy as a social semiotic
* teaching visual literacy
* visual literacy as deformed discourse
* theology and visual literacy – use and/or abuse
* teleology and visual literacy
* the history of visual literacy

The Steering Group particularly welcomes the submission of pre-formed panel proposals. 300 word abstracts should be submitted by Friday 9th March 2007. If selected for presentation, 8 page draft conference papers should be submitted by Friday 8th June 2007.

Papers should be submitted to the Joint Organising Chairs: these should be sent as an email attachment in Word or WordPerfect; abstracts can also be submitted in the body of the email text rather than as an attachment. Papers will be blind peer reviewed. Joint Organising Chairs

CFP: Print Networks Conference - History of the British Book Trade)

The twenty-fourth annual Print Networks conference on the History of the British Book Trade will take place at the University of Chester on 24-26 July 2007. The theme for the conference is Print culture in the provinces: the creation, distribution, and dissemination of word and image. Provincial-metropolitan inter-trade connections will be acceptable or on aspects of trade relations with any part of the former colonies & dominions.

A selection of the papers will be published in July 2008 as part of the Print Networks series, published by the British Library and Oak Knoll Press. Papers should be of up to 30 minutes duration. An abstract of the offered paper and a brief CV, (no longer than one side of A4 in total) of the likely contents should be submitted by 31 January 2007.
