Call for Submissions – Rethinking Resource Sharing Innovation Awards
DEADLINE EXTENDED TO MARCH 30, 2009!!
The Rethinking Resource Sharing Initiative was started to advocate for a complete rethink of the way libraries conduct resource sharing in the context of the global internet revolution. In order to showcase resource sharing innovation, the Rethinking Resource Sharing Initiative has created an award to encourage libraries and librarians all over the world to make changes in how they do resource sharing and improve service to users.
Up to three winning submissions will be awarded a cash prize of $1,000 each. Recipients will be announced at the Rethinking Resource Sharing Forum 2009 on May 13 and 14, 2009 in Dublin, OH. Funding for the 2009 Innovation Awards is provided by the Alliance of Library Service Networks www.librarynetworks.org, a group of U.S. independent regional networks that includes Amigos, BCR, FEDLINK, ILLINET, INCOLSA, MINITEX, MLC, MLNC, NELINET, Nylink, OHIONET, PALINET, SOLINET, and WiLS. The Nebraska Library Commission is also a member.
To be considered for the award, please submit a description of the user-centric service change you have made that has improved resource sharing in your library, consortium or state. Full details for submission can be found at www.rethinkingresourcesharing.org.
The deadline for applications/nominations is March 30, 2009. (post-mark or date of e-mail).

Seeking editor/contributors for libary monographs (Primary Research Group)
Primary Research Group (http://www.primaryresearch.com) is seeking project directors for two monographs. The first is on: Developments in Academic Library Interlibrary Loan; the second is on library personnel management.
Each requires email interviews followed up by phone calls to 9 academic libraries.
We estimate about 50- 60 hours of work and offer a stipend of $1350 as well as free copies to all participants, including those interviewed, as well as editor/contributor attribution.

Primary Research Group, publisher of surveys and research reports about libraries and higher education, is seeking an experienced librarian to write a monograph about new developments in inter-library loan. The author will interview at least ten leading academic libraries and profile the impact of new technologies and developments on inter-library loan. Among the issues to be explored are the impact of digital repositories, copyright questions, tracking of rights and obligations, loan of rare books and other special or fragile items, services to distance learning students, relations with commercial document delivery providers, role of inter-library loan staff in acquisitions and licensing strategies, measurement of service productivity, software and automation, staff size and budgets, prioritization of service and other major issues in interlibrary loan. Potential authors should have the capaity to arrange interviews with professional asociates in major libraries, particuarly academic libraries.
