Call for Reviewers: The Tech Static
The Tech Static, a new technology book review outlet for librarians launching this November, is seeking regular reviewers for ebooks and prepublication ebooks. Please be comfortable with technology and with the prospect of reviewing guides to programming languages and other technology-related topics, as well as with reviewing materials in electronic format. Experience with collection development in this area a plus.

1) Your name, job title, and employer
2) A paragraph or two about your relevant background
3) A short (~100-word) sample review of any technology-related title.
4) Whether you’re comfortable reviewing unfinished prepublication ebook versions of upcoming titles, or only full ebooks.

Share your research paper with other educators
Submission Deadline: Aug. 1, 2008
Have you been looking for a venue to present your research in educational technology as a formal paper? The Texas Computer Education Association is offering an opportunity for researchers to formally publish and present their research papers to peers.
You are invited to share your knowledge with other educators by taking part in the Texas Computer Education Association’s third annual Educational Technology Research Symposium. This one-day event will be held Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, at the Austin Convention Center in conjunction with the pre-convention days of the TCEA Annual Convention & Exposition.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to attend the TCEA Annual Convention and Exposition, “Accelerate Technology,” Feb. 2-6, 2009 at no extra cost. Last year, the TCEA annual convention attracted more than 12,000 attendees, exhibitors, and others. All those attending will receive a free copy of the bound proceedings book and will present their papers individually on the day of the event. The Symposium event also includes a keynote speaker and luncheon.

Papers should consist of original (not previously published) or reported research on any and all aspects of Educational Technology. Papers will be peer reviewed using a double-blind referee process. Accepted papers will be published in the Symposium Proceedings book and on CD-ROM. These papers will serve as a source of information for educational technology research. TCEA may invite selected papers to be published in the TechEdge, TCEA’s quarterly journal.

CFP: Journal for Computing Teachers (JCT)
JCT is published under the auspices of the Special Interest Group for Computer Teachers (SIGCT) in the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE). The primary mission of SIGCT is to enhance precollege instruction in computer science. JCT accepts manuscripts for possible publication in two ways – editor reviewed and peer reviewed.
In the “editor reviewed” process, articles are reviewed by the editor. In the “peer-reviewed” portion of the journal, manuscripts are acknowledged by the editor upon receipt and, after a preliminary review to judge their appropriateness for JCT, are sent to at least two members of the Editorial Review Board. Following the completion of the review process, the editor contacts the author(s) to accept the paper for publication, to accept the paper conditional on the completion of any recommended revisions, or to reject it.
Submission topics include but are not limited to:
• Academic and research articles relating to the teaching of computing in K-12 education
• Pedagogical articles describing and explaining the rationale for some teaching practice, approach, or lesson
• Theoretical articles explaining or arguing particular principles or models of learning, teaching, curriculum development, content perspective-taking, etc.
• Explanatory articles providing teachers with professional development information, e.g., understanding hardware and software (TCP/IP, worm/virus operation, file systems, etc.), conceptual understanding (e.g., encryption, XML), etc.
• Reports concerning computing (e.g., curriculum and policy recommendations)
For information about the journal and submission guidelines for authors, go to http://www.iste.org/JCT. Potential authors do not have to be members of ISTE or SIGCT to publish in JCT. Submission deadline for fall 2008 issue is September 1, 2008.
