Call for Proposals: ULS Current Topics Discussion Group (ALA Annual 2012)

Call for Proposals: ULS Current Topics Discussion Group (ALA Annual 2012)

The ACRL University Libraries Section (ULS) Current Topics Discussion Group invites the submission of proposals for presentation at its meeting at the 2012 ALA Annual Conference in Anaheim.  The discussion will be held on Sunday, June 24 10:30-12.

The ULS Current Topics Discussion Group is for librarians holding positions in academic libraries.
At the last Annual conference, the topic was “Supporting the University’s Vision through Campus Outreach & Targeted Research Support.”  Our discussion leader was Christie Peters from the University of Houston, who shared her experience working with other librarians to assess the data management needs of university researchers.  This led to a great discussion of other ways librarians are looking at to support universities visions. For the next discussion at Annual, we are interested in topics that will appeal to a variety of participants. Possible topics include data management, mobile learning, faculty/librarian partnerships, and the library as publisher. Other topics are also welcome!

The presenter should plan to speak for about 15 minutes and expect to be actively engaged in the discussion.

Proposals are due by April 6. Notification of acceptance will be made by April 25.  Please include the following information in your proposal:

1. A cover sheet with your name, title, institutional affiliation, phone number, and email address.
2. A second sheet that contains no identifying information and includes the title and a brief description (no more than 250 words) of your presentation.

Please submit the proposal as an attachment to lburtle@gsu.edu.
