The ALCTS CaMMS Copy Cataloging Interest Group
invites presentation proposals for its ALA Annual Meeting in Orlando on
Saturday, June 25, 2016 8:30-10:00 a.m.
CCIG's charge is to discuss common problems
concerning copy cataloging of all kinds of materials, quality control,
workflows issues, staffing needs, training, and effects of cataloging rules on
copy cataloging.
Cataloging is a public service, so our focus for
the Annual meeting is how libraries support local needs in a copy cataloging
workflow. Presentations should be approximately 20 minutes.
Suggested topics include:
- Implementation and maintenance
of local controlled vocabularies, subject headings, or classification
systems
- Breaking “the rules” to satisfy
a user need
- Retooling existing workflows or
practices based on public service work, assessment, or user feedback
- Meeting the needs of unique
user groups
If you are interested in presenting, please
email a proposal abstract to Leanne Finnigan (lpf@temple.edu) and April Grey
(greyae@wofford.edu) by Friday, April 15, 2016.
