CFP: OCLC Systems & Services: International Digital Library Perspectives will be publishing a special issue on open source ILS/OPAC implementations. The editor is looking for articles that articulate the planning, development, testing, systems work, marketing, etc. related to the implementation of a replacement to or alternative to a vendor ILS/OPAC. Articles can be of any length, and figures and screen shots are encouraged. OSS:IDLP is a peer-reviewed journal.
If you are interested in contributing, please send the editor your name, a short proposal of the topic, and a tentative title for the article. Deadline for proposals is November 1, 2009. Articles would be due to the editor by April 1, 2010. Any questions can be directed to the editor. Thank you.

We aim for a variety of programs: basic to advanced, every library type, how you use various Innovative modules, and how you use other programs in conjunction with Innovative software. The topics list is not meant to be exhaustive. Some topics have been duplicated (as appropriate) under separate categories for your convenience. If you have an idea of your own and don't see it listed, please submit a proposal anyway; you just may find that you have the experience and ideas to share!
You may also be interested in coordinating a panel discussion, but don't have all of the presenters lined up. It's perfectly fine to have some TBA's at this stage. The Program Committee can work with you to help identify potential co-presenters.
If you have presented or coordinated at past IUG programs, please consider resubmitting a proposal for this year. Many comments from recent IUG conferences attest to the fact that it is impossible to attend every program that our users would like to hear; having another chance to see popular programs is always appreciated.
There are also a large number of regional user group meetings taking place this fall that offer an excellent variety of programs. If you are presenting in one of these regional conferences, please consider repeating your program at the annual meeting, so many more colleagues can learn from your experiences.

We welcome programs and presentations that are geared to all experience levels and across all library types. This is an outstanding opportunity to share your experiences and insights, reprise an IUG 2009 presentation, or assess the potential for a possible IUG 2010 presentation.

I have a contract to deliver a book on the changing role of Systems Librarians and Systems Offices in libraries to Chandos Publishing in the UK by April 1 2010. I am looking for contributors who can provide a chapter on the subject. Of special interest are
* IT infrastructure
* Relationships with Vendors
* Library culture
* Public Relations/Marketing/Fundraising
* Open Source Software
* Hosted databases
and how these have changed what you do over the past few years. Since this is a British Publisher any contribution from outside the US would be especially interesting. The Eastern Great Lakes Innovative Users Group invites you to present your ideas, experiences and views on the various modules of the Innovative Interfaces system at our annual fall meeting being held Friday, September 25, 2009 at the Akron-Summit County Public Library in Akron, OH.
* Presentations for all levels of experience across all modules and Innovative products are welcomed
* Proposals may take the form of programs, panel discussions, forums, demonstrations, and hands-on instruction
* Have an idea, but don't think you could devote a full 45 minutes to it? Submit a proposal for a 15-minute program
* New for 2009, hands-on instruction sessions (limit of 15 attendees per session) are welcomed
* Birds of a Feather” (BoF) sessions, which take the form of informal discussions on a particular topic, module or issue(s) may also be proposed

The Northwest Innovative Users Group is currently accepting proposals for one hour (60 minute) program presentations at the Fifteenth Annual NWIUG Users Group meeting on Thursday, September 10 and Friday, September 11, 2009 at the Chemeketa Community College in Salem, Oregon. This is your chance to share III expertise/issues with your colleagues, and, for those of you from out-of-town, a chance to enjoy both the beautiful Chemeketa Community College campus and Salem's historic sites.
The conference will be structured as it has been in past years - concurrent presentations within each program session.
Your ideas on programs you would like to see presented are also welcome.

I am very pleased to announce the availability of the Program Proposal Form for the Innovative Users* Group (IUG) 2009 Conference to be held in Anaheim, California from Sunday, May 17 to Wednesday, May 20, 2008.
The deadline for submitting program proposals is Monday, November 3, 2008.

If you would like to present a program or two, but do not know what might be of interest to colleagues from other Innovative libraries, take a look at the Suggested Topics Page that have been compiled over the past few years and from the responses to the IUG 2008 Conference survey in Washington, D.C. You may find that you have the experience and ideas to share.
Remember, we aim for a variety of programs - basic to advanced, every library type, how you use various Innovative modules, and how you use other programs in conjunction with Innovative software. The topics list is not meant to be exhaustive. Some topics have been duplicated (as appropriate) under separate categories for your convenience. If you have
an idea of your own and don't see it listed, please submit a proposal anyway. You may also be interested in coordinating a panel discussion, but don't have all of the presenters lined up. It's perfectly fine to have some TBA's at this stage. The Program Committee can work with you
to help identify potential co-presenters.
If you have presented or coordinated at past IUG programs, please consider resubmitting a proposal for this year. Many comments from recent IUG conferences attest to the fact that it is impossible to attend every program that our users would like to hear, so it is always appreciated in having another chance to see popular programs. There are also a large number of regional user group meetings taking place this fall that offer an excellent variety of program offerings. If you are presenting in one of the regional conferences, please consider repeating your program at the annual meeting, so many more colleagues can learn from your experiences.

The Code4Lib Journal (C4LJ) exists to foster community and share information among those interested in the intersection of libraries, technology, and the future.
The Code4Lib Journal is now accepting proposals for publication in its 5th issue. Don't miss out on this opportunity to share your ideas and experiences in an issue that marks the first full year of publication for this new journal. To be included in the 5th issue, scheduled for publication in December 2008, please submit articles, abstracts, or proposals to c4lj-rticles@googlegroups.com by Friday, September 12. When submitting, please include the title or subject of the proposal in the subject line of the message.
C4LJ encourages creativity and flexibility, and the editors welcome submissions across a broad variety of topics that support the mission of the journal. Possible topics include, but are not limited to:
* Practical applications of library technology (both actual and hypothetical)
* Technology projects (failed, successful, proposed, or in-progress), including how they were done and challenges faced
* Case studies
* Best practices
* Reviews
* Comparisons of third party software or libraries

C4LJ strives to promote professional communication by minimizing the barriers to publication. While articles should be of a high quality, they need not follow any formal structure. * Sessions may take the form of presentations or panel discussions (45 minutes in length), or demonstrations (20 minutes in length).

JCT is published under the auspices of the Special Interest Group for Computer Teachers (SIGCT) in the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE). The primary mission of SIGCT is to enhance precollege instruction in computer science. JCT accepts manuscripts for possible publication in two ways – editor reviewed and peer reviewed.
In the “editor reviewed” process, articles are reviewed by the editor. In the “peer-reviewed” portion of the journal, manuscripts are acknowledged by the editor upon receipt and, after a preliminary review to judge their appropriateness for JCT, are sent to at least two members of the Editorial Review Board. Following the completion of the review process, the editor contacts the author(s) to accept the paper for publication, to accept the paper conditional on the completion of any recommended revisions, or to reject it.
Submission topics include but are not limited to:
• Academic and research articles relating to the teaching of computing in K-12 education
• Pedagogical articles describing and explaining the rationale for some teaching practice, approach, or lesson
• Theoretical articles explaining or arguing particular principles or models of learning, teaching, curriculum development, content perspective-taking, etc.
• Explanatory articles providing teachers with professional development information, e.g., understanding hardware and software (TCP/IP, worm/virus operation, file systems, etc.), conceptual understanding (e.g., encryption, XML), etc.
• Reports concerning computing (e.g., curriculum and policy recommendations)
For information about the journal and submission guidelines for authors, go to http://www.iste.org/JCT. Potential authors do not have to be members of ISTE or SIGCT to publish in JCT. Submission deadline for fall 2008 issue is September 1, 2008.

Call for Proposals for 5th Annual SirsiDynix Northeast Regional Group Users Conference
The 5th Annual SirsiDynix Northeast Regional Group Users Conference, hosted by Lehigh University, is seeking proposals for presentations. The conference is June 15-18, 2008 in Bethlehem, PA.
Any SirsiDynix Unicorn, Symphony, or Horizon customer, as well as SirsiDynix staff may submit proposals. We are open to proposals in various tracks (circulation, technical services, systems, or general) Proposals are not required to be SirsiDynix-based presentations as other library topics are welcome.
Attendees that are presenting will receive a discount price of $70 for the full conference registration. (Full conference price is $125.)
Submit proposals for presentations to insnrg@lehigh.edu. Please send a working title, suggested audience (circulation, technical services, systems, general), and a brief summary of your proposal. The deadline for proposals is May 15, 2008.
