LITA Forum write-up for ISQ
Hey everyone,
NISO’s Information Standards Quarterly is looking for someone to do a conference write-up for the LITA Forum that starts on Friday. This is a great opportunity for someone wanting to break into writing for the profession, but I would urge all new, aspiring, and experienced writers to consider the opportunity. I will be at the Forum myself and am happy to give $5 worth of free advice on the process. NISO shares so much with LITA…If you’re going to Forum anyway, please think about doing the write-up for NISO! Call for Reporters (ALCTS Preconferences and Programs at ALA Annual, 2009)
Call for Reporters (ALCTS Preconferences and Programs at ALA Annual, 2009)
I need reporters for ALCTS preconferences and programs that will take place during the 2009 ALA Annual Conference in Chicago in July. Reports are typically about 500 words, will be published in the September issue of the ALCTS Newsletter Online (ANO), and include a
byline. Last year's reports are available at http://www.ala.org/ala/mgrps/divs/alcts/resources/ano/v19/n4/rpts/prog.cfm.
Contact me if you're interested in reporting or would like to suggest someone, and I'll send you a list of preconferences and programs. Reporters don't have to be ALCTS members, but they must be registered for the ALA Conference. Reports are due by August 15 and will run in
the September issue of ANO.

Call for Recorders: Joint OLAC-MOUG 2008 Conference (Cleveland, Ohio)
The joint OLAC-MOUG 2008 Conference in Cleveland, Ohio, is coming up in September. I'm still looking for conference reporters for the following sessions:
Pre-conference on Maps Cataloging
Opening keynote speaker Lynne Howarth
Closing keynote speaker Janet Swan Hill
Electronic Resources workshop
Advanced Scores Cataloging workshop
Reports do not have to be exhaustive, only informative. Please review the reports for the 2006 OLAC conference in the December 2006 newsletter, which can be found at http://www.olacinc.org under Newsletters, to get an idea of what is expected. Your report will be published in the OLAC Newsletter, with your name and affiliation credited in the byline of your report. For those on the tenure-track or in other positions where publication is expected, your report can be used as a publication credit in a non-peer reviewed library periodical.
Additionally, your report will help to inform those who were unable to attend the conference and to provide a record of what OLAC does to support and enrich the professional lives of its members.
If you have any interest in being a conference reporter, please contact me as soon as possible at mayoj@ecu.edu. Please indicate your reporting preferences, if any. Thanks for your consideration.

Looking to get published? Footnotes seeks contributions! (NMRT)
The NMRT Footnotes Committee is seeking contributions for our upcoming August issue.
We are particularly interested in finding writers to cover all the various NMRT events at Annual, but other article ideas are encouraged as well.
If you are going to the conference and plan on attending any of the many NMRT events - or other ALA events – consider writing an article for Footnotes. It’s a great way to share your experiences with others and get your name out there!

ALA Midwinter Reports for Library Hi-Tech News
Here is another publishing opportunity to cover meetings and discussion groups that you are attending at the ALA Midwinter Meeting beginning at the end of this week in Philadelphia.
Library Hi-Tech News (LHTN) always has a conference compilation and we seek input from a variety of librarians about anything having to do with technology applications in all kinds of libraries. There are many sessions sponsored by both LITA and other Divisions scheduled at this conference that would interest our readers both in North America and abroad about new products, methods, implementations, ideas, or anything else you glean and we hope that you will choose to cover what is of greatest interest to you and submit to us by February 19. It would be very helpful to know whether we can expect a submission from you. Submissions from multiple contributors for the same session or content will be streamed and included, as there are often different viewpoints that are of interest to us.
Contributions should be significant in that they should not only be descriptive but evaluative, critical, comparative and indicate the timeliness, relevance and importance it has to Library IT, as well as include what you found most interesting or disappointing and what kind of experience you have with this topic or product, etc.
Please send submissions as an attachment in MS Word to Julia Gelfand (jgelfand@uci.edu.) by Feb 19 to be included in the April 2007 issue.
LHTN is both a print and online publication, on the Emerald database.

If you are going to the ACRL National Conference in Baltimore, March 29-April 1, 2007 we hope that you will please consider contributing to a conference report to be published in Library Hi-Tech News (LHTN) in the June 2007 issue. We are seeking coverage of specialized sessions,
keynote addresses, poster sessions, the conference culture, and especially how libraries are introducing and employing new technologies and trying new things with different technology applications. We plan to stream different opinions and contributions and welcome different
viewpoints on a theme or program that is already covered. We invite your participation and ask that you let us know if you plan to contribute a submission. The deadline is April 27, 2007. We look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for your consideration. This is a particularly good way for new librarians to get a byline!
