Call for Book Chapters: Changing role of Systems Librarians and Systems Offices in libraries
I have a contract to deliver a book on the changing role of Systems Librarians and Systems Offices in libraries to Chandos Publishing in the UK by April 1 2010. I am looking for contributors who can provide a chapter on the subject. Of special interest are
* IT infrastructure
* Relationships with Vendors
* Library culture
* Public Relations/Marketing/Fundraising
* Open Source Software
* Hosted databases
and how these have changed what you do over the past few years. Since this is a British Publisher any contribution from outside the US would be especially interesting. If you are a Systems Librarian (or equivalent) and would like to submit a chapter please send me a proposal. It does not have to be formal at this point, just a paragraph or two on what you would write about and your contact information. Deadline for chapters in January 1, 2010. Then Documentation Magazine (an online publication of the Documentation Sciences Foundation, which is freely distributed across the Internet with an audience of more than 150.000) wants to hear from you.
It is looking for contributors who can provide new content that appeals to Information and Knowledge Sciences. Topics can focus on any of the following categories: Library / Archive / Documentation / Information technology / Museum / Communications / Knowledge /
Preservation / Social aspects of information / Digital divide / Semantic web / Epistemology / Digital assets.
Articles (no commercials), written in English or Spanish, and TXT format, will be accepted based on suitability of content to the audience, conciseness (max word count is 2000), sentence structuring, grammar, etc. Only articles meeting these requirements will be considered. The Foundation's editorial staff reserves the right to review, edit, and make changes to the original articles as deem fit.
Articles will also include the author's bio and contact information. Pictures/images, in jpeg format, are highly encouraged (author is responsible for copyright issues, that materials belongs to him/her, the article is original, and has not been published elsewhere). The authors don't receive pay for the publication of the article. Writing an article will ensure that you continue to build your personal brand and your expertise online.

C4LJ encourages creativity and flexibility, and the editors welcome submissions across a broad variety of topics that support the mission of the journal. Possible topics include, but are not limited to:

The annual Chicago Colloquium on Digital Humanities and Computer Science (DHCS) was established to bring together researchers and scholars in the humanities and computer science to advance the digital humanities as a field of intellectual inquiry and to identify and explore new directions and perspectives for future research.
This year, DHCS will be held at the Illinois Institute of Technology, with the theme "Critical Computing", seeking to explore how best to develop productive research collaborations between computer scientists and humanists. The colloquium is sponsored by Illinois Institute of Technology, University of Chicago, and Northwestern University.
We invite proposals for presentations, posters, demos, and panel discussions on all topics that intersect current theory and practice in the humanities and computer science. Please see the colloquium website for more detailed information.

The editors of Urban Library Journal (ULJ) announce a call for proposals for the Winter 2010 issue.
Urban Library Journal, an open access, refereed journal of research and discussion dealing with all aspects of urban libraries and librarianship, welcomes articles dealing with academic, research, public, school, and special libraries in an urban setting.

Call for Papers and Posters: 2009 Midwest Chapter of the MLA Annual Meeting
The program committee of the Midwest Chapter of the Medical Library Association (MLA) invites proposals for contributed papers and posters for the 2009 Midwest MLA Annual Meeting in Columbus, Ohio from October 3 through 6, 2009 at the Hyatt on Capitol Square. The conference theme of "Seek, Discover, Explore" lends itself to a variety of topics, and provides opportunities for presenters to show how they endeavor to seek out new and improved ways to provide cutting-edge library services, to discover innovative techniques for using technology and the Internet, or to explore how libraries connect people to information in creative ways. Papers and posters may highlight practical problem-solving approaches, report on research in librarianship, document collaborative efforts or outreach activities, or describe innovative programs, resources, or services. Contributed paper and poster topics are as unlimited as your imagination, talents, and creativity can devise.
Contributed papers will be presented on Sunday, October 4, 2009 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m.
Posters will be on display on Monday, October 5, 2009 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Presenters should be available to discuss their posters from 11 a.m. to noon on October 5, 2009.
For contributed paper proposals, submit a 250 word abstract to describe your paper. Include your name, position title, address, phone number, and email address. Call for Papers: ART DOCUMENTATION
Editors are inviting articles for both the Spring and Fall 2010 issues of ART DOCUMENTATION, the semiannual peer-reviewed journal of the Art Libraries Society of North America. The articles should fall within the scope of art and architecture librarianship, visual resources curatorship, digital image management, technology related to the visual
arts, art publishing, artists’ books, and related fields.
For the Spring 2010 issue, papers should be close to completion; the preliminary deadline is September 1, 2009. Many articles have already been accepted for this issue, but there is still space for a few more. For the Fall 2010 issue, please send your abstracts for articles
concerning research or projects that you are still developing. The preliminary deadline for this issue is April 1, 2010.
Have you recently given a presentation at a conference that would be appropriate to expand as a journal article? Please send an abstract if the subject falls within the scope of ART DOCUMENTATION.
