Call for Papers and Posters: 2009 Midwest Chapter of the MLA Annual Meeting
The program committee of the Midwest Chapter of the Medical Library Association (MLA) invites proposals for contributed papers and posters for the 2009 Midwest MLA Annual Meeting in Columbus, Ohio from October 3 through 6, 2009 at the Hyatt on Capitol Square. The conference theme of "Seek, Discover, Explore" lends itself to a variety of topics, and provides opportunities for presenters to show how they endeavor to seek out new and improved ways to provide cutting-edge library services, to discover innovative techniques for using technology and the Internet, or to explore how libraries connect people to information in creative ways. Papers and posters may highlight practical problem-solving approaches, report on research in librarianship, document collaborative efforts or outreach activities, or describe innovative programs, resources, or services. Contributed paper and poster topics are as unlimited as your imagination, talents, and creativity can devise.
Contributed papers will be presented on Sunday, October 4, 2009 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m.
Posters will be on display on Monday, October 5, 2009 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Presenters should be available to discuss their posters from 11 a.m. to noon on October 5, 2009.
For contributed paper proposals, submit a 250 word abstract to describe your paper. Include your name, position title, address, phone number, and email address. The abstract should be sent to: Leslie Schick, University of Cincinnati Health Sciences Library, PO Box 670574, 231 Albert Sabin Way, Cincinnati, OH 45267-0574 or emailed to leslie.schick@uc.edu.
For poster proposals, submit a 250 word abstract to describe your poster. Include your name, position title, address, phone number, and email address. The abstract should be sent to: Linda DeMuro, Director of Library Services, Nationwide Children's Hospital Library, 700 Children's Dr., Columbus OH 43205 or emailed to Linda.DeMuro@NationwideChildrens.org.
The deadline for abstract submission is July 31, 2009.
Notifications of paper/poster acceptance/rejection will be made by August 15, 2009.

The Society of Ohio Archivists (SOA) invites proposals for presentations for its annual meeting "Archival Access & Accessibility: Tradition & Technology" to be held May 20-22, 2009 at the Ohio Historical Society in Columbus, Ohio. The Program Committee seeks proposals related to
improving access to archival materials. Proposals from graduate students and allied professionals are welcome. Sessions run 75 minutes. Panel discussions or other formats are acceptable. Graduate students are also encouraged to participate in poster sessions.
To submit a proposal, please send the session title, an abstract, and the name, contact information, and brief biography of the presenter/s.
Proposal deadline is Monday, February 2, 2009.

Two types of posters/short papers are encouraged. Contributed research posters present new and promising work or preliminary results of research projects. Contributed “best practices” posters present the results of design projects, practical implementations or industry innovations. During the conference, presenters are expected to display their work as a poster, incorporating text and illustrations as appropriate.
Technical sessions and panels

Technical sessions and panels present topics for discussion such as cutting-edge research and design, analyses of emerging trends, opinions on controversial issues, reports by practitioners on current information science and technology projects, and contrasting viewpoints from experts in complementary professional areas. Pre- and Post-conference sessions

Pre- and Post-conference sessions present topics such as theoretical research, management strategies, and new and innovative systems or products, typically for purposes of concept development or continuing education. Purely promotional programs are excluded. Formats may include seminars, courses, workshops, and symposia. Sessions are scheduled for half to a full day and require a registration fee beyond the regular conference fee.
