What’s the Usage? How Patrons Make Use of Public Domain Digital Books

Now that thousands (millions?) of books have been digitized by Google Books Library Project how are they being used? What students in what area of studies use digital books? What is public usage of out-of-copyright digital books? Are third party university students writing theses on American 19th Century Economic Policies due to access to Harvard University’s public domain digital book collection? Are we advancing knowledge, sparking new scholarship, promoting learning and driving the pace of innovation now that hitherto inaccessible information for educational, research and general public use is now accessible?

Please come to listen to a panel of librarians who have partnered with the Google Book Library Project in a discussion on usage of digitized book collections.

We all have been reading and watching as librarians partner with Google to digitize collections. Please email me below if you are willing to share information on usage of this ever growing digital resource.

Thanks,

Dr. Richard J. Smith, Co-Char DLTIG
