As the editor of Library Hi Tech News, I invite all librarians to consider writing an article for Library Hi Tech News (LHTN).
LHTN focuses on practical or innovative uses of technologies in libraries and reaches a global network of readers including tech-savvy librarians as well as to librarians in developing countries. LHTN has moved to article level publishing, so as soon as your article is accepted, and goes through copy editing and proofs (usually one month), it is PUBLISHED online with a DOI that can be cited. It will then be assigned to the next open issue (10 issues per year). LHTN has a liberal open access policy known as Green Open Access, i.e. you or your library can archive your paper and extend its impact. Downloads of articles continue to rise each year.
LHTN can be an easy way to get started with publishing. If you've presented a poster or unpublished paper at a local or national meeting, write it up as an article and extend greatly the number of librarians who will learn about the exciting things you are doing. - Conference Reports
- Makerspace Place (new technology for creativity and experimentation such as VR/AR, miro computers such as Rasberry Pi and Arudino, as examples
- Beyond the Walls (of the library). Write about a unique outreach or engagement effort using technology
- On the Move (focus is on mobile services as one's smartphone is the new computer. The newest mobile phones on the horizon will have dual screens that when opened up creates a tablet)
- Next Gen and Age Tech (demands, training and other services for different age groups, such as millennials, seniors, families etc)
- Disruption Eruption (how a technology is changing a library services, innovation from technology for staying relevant, new kinds of library positions defined in meeting a need)
