CFP: Code4Lib 2010: Prepared Talk Proposals

CFP: Code4Lib 2010: Prepared Talk Proposals

The Code4Lib 2010 conference

Code4Lib 2010 is a conference for library technologists to commune, gather/create/share ideas and software, be inspired, and forge collaborations. It is also an outgrowth of the Access HackFest, wrapped into a conference-like format. It is *the* event for technologists building digital libraries and digital information systems, tools, and software.

The conference will be held Monday February 22nd (preconference day) - Thursday February 25th, 2010 in Asheville, NC. More information can be found at http://code4lib.org/conference/2010/.

Prepared talks

Prepared talks are 20 minutes, and must focus on one or more of the following areas:

* "tools" (some cool new software, software library or integration platform)
* "specs" (how to get the most out of some protocols, or proposals for new ones)
* "challenges" (one or more big problems we should collectively address)

The community will vote on proposals using the criteria of:

* usefulness
* newness
* geekiness
* diversity of topics

We cannot accept every prepared talk proposal, but multiple lightning talk sessions should provide everyone who wishes to present with an opportunity to do so.

Schedule

Proposals can be submitted through November 13. Voting will commence soon thereafter and be open through December 1st. Successful candidates will be notified by December 3rd. The submitter (and if necessary a second presenter) will be guaranteed an opportunity to register for the conference through December 21st.

Guidelines for Proposals and Submissions

Proposal abstracts must be no longer than 500 words. Include your name and email address. All proposals should be submitted on the wiki page at http://wiki.code4lib.org/index.php/2010talks_Submissions

Call for Poster Session Proposals: NASIG 2009

Call for Poster Session Proposals: NASIG 2009

The NASIG Program Planning Committee (PPC) invites poster session proposals for the 24th NASIG conference in Asheville, North Carolina, June 4-7, 2009. The theme of the conference is "Riding the Rapids through Mountains of Change."

Posters will be on display 9AM-5PM on Friday, June 5th. Presenters should be available to discuss their topics during the afternoon break on this day. Submission form is online.

Poster sessions provide an opportunity to share innovative ideas and new applications of technology. Sessions may present a report of a research study, an analysis of a practical problem-solving effort, or a description of an innovative program that may be of interest to the
serials community. In keeping with NASIG's tradition of non-commercialism, poster sessions focusing solely on a commercial product will not be accepted.

Deadline for submission: Applications must be received by 5 p.m. EST on Friday, March 27, 2009. Members of the PPC's Sub-committee on Poster Sessions will evaluate abstracts. Presenters will be notified in April 2009.

Inquiries may be sent to the PPC co-chairs, Erika Ripley and Morag Boyd

CFP: NASIG 24th Annual Conference "Riding the Rapids Through a Mountain of Change"
June 4-7, 2009
Asheville, North Carolina

The 2009 Program Planning Committee (PPC) invites proposals and/or program ideas for pre-conference, vision, strategy, and tactics sessions. The Program Planners are specifically
interested in hearing from publishers, vendors, librarians, and others in the field of serials and electronic resources about issues relating to scholarly communication, licensing, and publishing. Proposals based on both descriptive and experimental research findings are especially welcome. The Program Planning Committee will review all submitted proposals for their content, timeliness, and reserves the right to combine, blend, or refocus proposals to maximize their relevance and to avoid duplication.

This Call for Proposals will close on September 5, 2008.

Presentations must be original and not previously presented at other conferences. The Programming Planning Committee hopes to notify applicants by the end of the calendar year, but no earlier than December 1, 2008, as to the status of proposals.

Inquiries may be sent to the PPC co-chairs, Erika Ripley and Morag Boyd at: prog-plan@nasig.org. For additional details and to suggest a proposal or idea, please go to
